Auburn Dominates Season Opener

First things first, I am incredibly honored to write the first ever article for the Barners Barning About the Barn Blog brought to you by Barner Supply Company! More on that later.

Our buddy Creed Jordan summed this one up early:

Quick Game Recap:

Auburn did what they were supposed to do. They delivered a commanding performance that set the tone for this new season. I say that as if that is a normal thing around here, but I can’t recall a recent time where Auburn looked this dominant regardless of the level of competition.

Our Tigers absolutely put on a clinic for Alabama A&M (not to be confused with The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa Campus) to the tune of a 52-3 Halftime lead. Scoring on eight of the nine drives they had in the first half. Punting once. No turnovers.

Payton Thorne looked sharp as a tack leading the office which shuffled in all the skill players, never truly showing what starting lineup to expect next week. All the Freeze-4 caught balls. Freshmen Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson adding touchdown catches to complement KLS’s two.

The defense looked just as dominant, allowing only a field goal gifted to A&M by some very questionable refereeing. They also shuffled in so many underclassmen that it would only be a guess what the starting lineup would be next week.  Kevin Faulk and Jalen McLeod being the notable flashes of true greatness that will pay dividends come SEC play.

How strong was it? To start the second half, they mercy-ruled it and went to ten-minute quarters. It didn't help.

Auburn’s Riley blocked the opening punt of the half with his helmet leading to a Malcolm Simmons touchdown. Then Simmons followed that up with a touchdown catch from QB2 Baby GOAT (Hank Brown). Who then promptly tossed another bomb to Cal starting QB turned Auburn receiver, Sam Jackson V. Leaving a clean game through three quarters with a seventy-point lead.

Auburn’s Justin Jones coughed up the ball for the first turnover of the season. Then Bryce Cain put another one on the ground. All in late ball when the game was well in hand. Still, mistakes you hate to see, and hope are corrected. Even still, the entire depth chart of the defense looked amazing.

Friends, we can have hope again. You can see a special ball team here in Auburn.

Final score 73-3. Their first time over 70 since 2003!

Here is the final box score:
